Writing Task 1 (Academic Test)
The chart below shows the results of a survey of 1000 people about their main reason for choosing a new place to live, divided by age group.
Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features and make comparisons where relevant.

Model Answer:
The table illustrates the main reasons why people from three different age groups (18–29, 30–49, and 50+) chose to move to a new place, based on a survey of 1,000 people.
Overall, younger people were most likely to move for better job opportunities, while older age groups were more influenced by cost of living and proximity to family. Safety became more important with age as well.
In detail, the most common reason for moving among those aged 18–29 was better job opportunities, with 57% of respondents in this group citing it. This figure dropped significantly in the older age groups, with only 28% of those aged 30–49 and just 7% of those aged 50+ choosing this reason.
For the middle-aged group (30–49), the leading factor was lower cost of living at 38%, followed closely by job opportunities (28%). Among those over 50, the most common reason was being closer to family (39%), which was much higher than in the younger groups.
The importance of a safer neighbourhood also increased with age, rising from 9% in the youngest group to 22% among those aged 50 and over.
